That figure has plunged to just 43.6% in 2022. By comparison, the proportion of weddings that happen on weekdays has doubled over that same time span. Luxury venues typically ramp up their prices for couples wanting their big day to fall on a Saturday. With the average weekday wedding packing costing an average of $10,000 less than a Saturday wedding, it’s easy to see why couples are bucking tradition. Some savvy couples use the money they save to pay for lavish honeymoons to exotic places. Saturday weddings are extremely popular due to the unique benefit of having more guests able to attend. There’s also no need for them to cut their celebrations short so they can make it to work the next day, meaning the reception can continue late into the night. The cheapest of the weekday weddings is Monday, while the most expensive of the weekend is Sunday. As well as cutting costs, a weekday wedding can also make your nuptials more intimate, as only those closest to you might make the effort, giving the event a cozier setting. If you really want to cut corners and don’t mind the absence of fanfare, you can always tie the knot in front of a justice of the peace for between $800 and $1,000, including the marriage license.
