1978 - King Hussein of Jordan married 26-year-old American Lisa Halaby, who became Queen Noor. She remained Queen of Jordan until King Hussein’s death in 1999. Their first-born son Abdullah is now the King of Jordan, with his wife, Rania Al-Yassin, becoming the queen.

In the 1800s, the U.S. Navy forbade “obscene” tattoos, which led to a boom in tattoos of nude women among men who didn’t want to serve. If they joined the Navy later, they had to have a tattoo artist “dress” the woman.

During the Norwegian Butter Crisis of 2011, two Swedes were arrested for illegally smuggling more than 550 pounds of butter into the country to sell for between $25 and $65 a pound. The police destroyed the confiscated illegal butter.
