Look Out For Low Bridges! — 212-Foot Turbine Makes Its Way To a Wind Farm

An enormous turbine blade has been pictured making its way through the Scottish Borders en route to a wind farm. The propeller — which measures 212 feet in length — was seen being slowly transported along a road near the town of Hawick. It’s the fourth of some 21 blades being moved to the new Pines Burn Wind Farm, with another 21 sections still to be delivered. Pictures show the blade being driven past fields dusted with snow, and transportation supervisors say bad weather has been hampering planned movements. The next movement will be on Tuesday. The project is expected to supply enough clean energy to power 22,000 households, to offset 40,681 tons of carbon dioxide emissions a year.
