In New York City, 111 8th Avenue takes up over one city block (2.9 million square feet). It was originally built for the Port Authority, but now Google owns the entire building.
Nature Oddities
In 1845, Queen Ranavalona I of Madagascar ordered 50,000 of her subjects to go on a buffalo hunt. The hunt required building roads across jungles, which lasted for 4 months. Around 10,000 people died from exhaustion, starvation, and malaria, but not a single buffalo was killed.
Food and Drink
Bacteria in food doubles every 20 minutes in the “danger zone” — 40º F to 140º F. When food is refrigerated and kept below 40º F, bacterial growth slows to a crawl, while freezing will stop growth entirely.
