Minneapolis resident Diana Armstrong holds the world’s record for the longest fingernails on a woman. She sports kaleidoscopic nails that measure a whopping 42 feet 10.4 inches, and hasn’t trimmed them since 1997. Back then, Diana used to take care of her manicure with her 16-year-old daughter Latisha. The two shared a close-knit bond, and after Latisha’s unexpected death from an asthma attack, Diana vowed never to trim her nails again. Her unique manicure now honors the memory of her daughter. Although she hasn’t set foot in a nail salon in the past 28 years, Diana keeps her hands tidy and colorful in the comfort of her own home. Taking care of her nails is a ritual that requires approximately 4-5 hours and more than an entire bottle of nail polish for each nail, a total of over 20 bottles.
