Man Fakes Carjacking to Avoid Going Shopping with His Wife

People underestimate just how much most men hate being dragged around shopping malls by their wives. Some would do almost anything to avoid it, as evidenced by one man who damaged his own car to fake a carjacking, just so he didn’t have to go shopping with his wife. The woman called 911 to report that her husband’s Toyota Corolla had been stolen from the parking lot near their home. She later called back to report that they had found the car. When police arrived to inspect the stolen vehicle, they found no signs of forced entry and a damaged ignition switch. After interrogating the husband, officers began to suspect he wasn’t telling the truth. The more they pressed, the less his story made sense. After analyzing all the evidence, the police concluded that the man had staged a fake carjacking. Despite having no criminal record, the man now risks spending time behind bars for his stunt. He has been charged with falsifying a police report. There’s no word on whether he believes that’s worse than having to go shopping with his wife.
