Americans Are Shocked by “Insane” Australian Pajama Habit

An early morning ritual that many Australians do has officially been debunked, after a popular U.S. influencer branded the common bedtime habit as “gross.” Brett Chody shared a fact that she says she was “insane” for not knowing. The 25-year-old referenced a poll that asked people what they do with their pajamas when they get up in the morning. The options were wash them, put them back in the drawer, or put them under your pillow. Brett said the option for putting them under your pillow was winning by a landslide, which came as a total shock. “I have genuinely never once in my life, heard of anyone putting pajamas under their pillow after they wear them,” she said. Commenters thought it was the obvious thing to do, with most commenters being Australian. Comments included, “Aussie here. PJs go under my pillow,” “Under my pillow......thought this was an Australian thing,” and “I didn’t know people DIDN’T do this? Where else would they go?” There were still a number of people who agreed with Brett, saying that not only was putting your pajamas under your pillow odd, it could also be unhygienic. Cleaning guru Chantel Mila says it’s perfectly normal to put your pajamas under your pillow between wears, though it’s not necessarily the best option for everyone. “If you tend to get hot or sweaty while you sleep, you might prefer to wash your pajamas after every wear,” she said. Mila went on to say that it really comes down to personal preference, but washing them every 2-3 wears is a good balance and keeps things feeling fresh and hygienic.
