Woman Accused of Stealing Motorized Shopping Cart to go to Doctor Appointment

A woman in Punta Gorda, Fla., was arrested earlier this week after being accused of stealing a motorized shopping cart from Publix grocery store and driving it down Tamiami Trail. Deputies tracked the woman, identified as Robin Zick, to a Circle K gas station about a mile from the grocery store. The 42-year-old admitted to deputies that the cart — valued at $2,500 — was stolen from the Publix. She explained that she was trying to get to a doctor appointment and had every intention of returning the cart to the store afterward. Emergency medical services were called to the scene, and Zick was transported to the hospital for further evaluation. After being released from the hospital, deputies arrested Zick and charged her with grand theft.
