Black Swan Nicknamed “Mr. Terminator” Evicted From Town After Trying to Drown Local Birds

A black swan has been removed from Stratford-Upon-Avon in the UK after he became aggressive with the area’s famous local mute swans. The bird — named Reggie by locals and nicknamed “Mr. Terminator” — was captured by Warden Cyril Bennis and is now being held in a local park before he will be moved to the Dawlish Waterfowl Center in Devon. Bennis said Mr. Terminator came to town about 9 months ago and residents were initially excited to have a black swan appear. “Everybody fell in love with him,” said Bennis. He went on to say that people began traveling to Stratford to see the black swan, which is home to a flock of 60 mute swans — famous for their S-shaped neck and orange bill. Unfortunately, it wasn’t long before Mr. Terminator began to muscle in on a pair of swans, kicking out the male and trying to take over his territory. Things got so bad that Mr. Terminator became aggressive and began trying to drown some of the swans. That’s when Bennis decided it was time for Mr. Terminator to move on. That, it turns out, was easier said that done. Mr. Terminator wasn’t going to go quietly, and Bennis has a sore chest to prove it. He managed to calm the bird down and bag him for transport. “Today the river is quiet and the swans are just relaxing,” said Bennis.
