Poppy O’Malley-Flack, from Kent in the UK, had trouble spelling, so it was recommended that she take a dyslexia test. It turns out that the 10-year-old had something entirely different — an IQ in the top 1%. The 3-hour test concluded that Poppy has an IQ of 136, revealing her exceptional reasoning and problem-solving skills. Her parents were as surprised as Poppy was. “We never expected to come out of a dyslexia test and have the lady say her reasoning skills and intelligence were exceptionally high,” said Poppy’s mother Lucy. After receiving the results, Lucy was approached by the IQ society Mensa in hopes of getting Poppy into the program with other gifted children. As for Poppy, she has no career aspirations just yet, but Lucy said she can’t see her daughter going for a normal 9-5 job, instead choosing something like science or art.
