Man Who Ate Only McDonald's for 100 Days Dropped 58½ Pounds

Kevin Maginnis, of Nashville, Tenn., decided he was going to go on an all-McDonald’s diet for 100 days, eating nothing but half portions of the fast-food chain menu items for every meal. Change came fast, with Kevin — who started at 238 pounds — dropping nearly 30 pounds in a little over 30 days. Melody, his wife of 32 years, even decided to join him for the last 60 days of the challenge. In the end, Kevin had lost a whopping 58½ pounds, while Melody dropped 17 pounds. At his new weight of 179½ pounds, Kevin said he felt amazing. The entire McDonald’s menu was available to the 56-year-old, who says he ate everything from Big Macs and Quarter Pounders to fries and even apple pies. He did replace the soda on the menu with water. He didn’t eat any fruit and vegetables, aside from the lettuce and tomato on the burgers, the apples in the apple pies, and the blueberries in the blueberry muffins. Snacking in between meals was prohibited. Even though Kevin never did any exercising and never counted calories, there were significant changes to his health. Bloodwork showed that his triglycerides were down to 205 points and his cholesterol dropped 65 points. Even his A1C levels dropped. “Can eating a Quarter Pounder with Cheese improve my AIC? Looks like it can, because I was pre-diabetic before and I’m down in the healthy range now,” said Kevin. He went on to explain, “You could do this with any food. Just stop vilifying the food. It’s not ‘good food, bad food’ for weight loss.” Kevin says it all boils down to portion control, having a plan, and taking accountability. He’s confident that he can maintain his weight, but not by only eating at McDonald’s.
