Crash on New Jersey Highway Resulted in a Real-Life Candy Crush

Two tractor-trailers collided on Route 80 in northwestern New Jersey, and drivers passing by were shocked at what spilled out of one of them. One of the trucks had been carrying thousands of bags of M&Ms, nearly all of which were sent cascading out onto the roadway. Both drivers suffered minor injuries and refused treatment. A portion of the highway was shut down for nearly two hours while the wreckage and spilled candy packages were cleared from the scene. Needless to say, people took to social media to comment on the story, with one person posting, “Cleanup would have been must faster if they had just let drivers park and pick.” Another commenter said, “I hope nobody had a peanut allergy.” This isn’t the first time food has been dumped all over the highway. Earlier this month, a semi crashed on Highway 69 near Hillsdale, Colo., and out came well over 100 boxes of sweet corn. All of the corn was snatched up free of charge by lucky locals. In August another crash occurred in Pennsylvania that led to more than 1,000 pounds of hot dogs being flung onto the roadway. People jokingly referred to the crash as the “wurst” accident.
