The World’s Longest Car Has 26 Wheels and Can Accommodate 75 Passengers

Built from six 1976 Cadillac El Dorado limousines, The American Dream is over 100 feet long and has enough interior space to comfortably accommodate 75 people. Unfortunately, it’s not the easiest vehicle to maneuver. Originally built in 1986 by car collector Jay Ohrbeg, the car measured only 60 feet and was powered by a pair of V8 engines — one at the front and one at the back. While Guinness acknowledged The American Dream as the world’s longest car back in 1986, the car’s meteoric rise to fame was followed by an abrupt drop in popularity and ended up abandoned at the back of a New Jersey warehouse. Then automotive enthusiasts Michael Dezer and Michael Manning bought the car and restored it to its former glory. Today, The American Dream is back to its glamorous self, with 26 brand-new wheels, a fresh coat of white paint, and a few extra inches added to its already impressive length. Although the world’s longest car is technically functional, it can only be driven on straight roads. That’s because turning a 100-foot-long car safely is impossible on most roads. It’s currently on display at Dezeland Park Orlando’s Auto Museum in Orlando, Fla.
