A family from Armagh in Northern Ireland had planned on having turkey for Christmas dinner, but a Golden Retriever named Chuck had other plans. The woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, and her daughter had been shopping for a turkey for Christmas dinner when they stopped to drop off some presents at a friend’s house. When she got back into her car, the woman could hear her daughter saying, “No, Chuck, no!” When she looked around, Chuck was in a tug-of-war with her daughter over the turkey. In the end, Chuck won and took off with the turkey into a field, with the woman hot on his heels. She chased the dog for a while, but finally gave up. “My immediate reaction was ‘my husband is going to kill me and I’m going to have to get another turkey,’” said the woman. Fortunately, after she explained to her butcher what happened, she was able to get another “emergency turkey” in time for Christmas Day. There’s no word on whether Chuck will be hitting the gym in January to work off his Christmas feast.
