Woman Left Disappointed After “Northern Lights” Turned Out To Be a Local Tomato Factory

Dee Harrison was left stunned after seeing the so-called mystical glow of the aurora borealis over the skies of her southern England home, only to discover the warm magenta-colored vista was actually coming from the lights of a nearby tomato farm. The 56-year-old spotted the reddish hue while driving to work around 5:15 a.m. She posted 3 photos of her discovery on social media with the caption, “Guess it’s the aurora borealis, not seen one before.” After attracting hundreds of comments, Harrison was told that the “beautiful” glare was actually from Suffolk Sweet Tomatoes’ LED light units, which are used to encourage the growth of its stock. Data from AuroraWatch UK showed there was “no significant” activity in the area that morning, with the chance of seeing the northern lights unlikely.
