Every October, people and brands alike clamor to come up with the year’s most innovative Halloween costume. It’s an annual tradition that awards extra points for humor, and in 2016, a Burger King location in Queens, New York, came up with a real Whopper of an idea. The Burger King located at 92-85 Queens Boulevard draped itself in super-sized white sheets, emblazoned with beady red eyes and yellow eyebrows……..or shall we say, golden arches. If those colors seem off-brand to you, you’re on to something. The Burger King was in costume as the ghost of McDonald’s, because for a Burger King fan, what could possibly be scarier than that? In a particularly snarky move, the chain’s marquee even read, ““Booooooo! Just kidding, we still flame grill our burgers. Happy Halloween.” To add insult to injury, Burger King even served up their flame-grilled burgers in boxes that had the McDonald’s logo on them. Amazingly, McDonald’s did not retaliate.
