Wee Justice: One Man’s Solution To People Peeing In His Driveway

For far too long, Stephen Bodnar (inset) from Sydney, Australia, has been plagued by late-night drinkers using his property as a makeshift toilet. Now he’s taking matters into his own hands, setting up an ingenious — and so far very effective — “wee trap.” Men and women alike have stumbled from nearby pubs and taken the liberty of relieving themselves in Bodnar’s driveway. “The worst was when I would go away, out to dinner or something, and then drive into my driveway and they had wee’d right where my door opens,” said Bodnar. Finally fed up, the electrician decided to install a $3,000 sprinkler and CCTV system to keep perpetrators away, and so far it’s working like a charm. The deterrent includes a motion detector that triggers a light and then a 3-minute downpour between the hours of 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. Bodnar says it will go off whether he’s home or on the other side of the world. The CCTV captures the moment late-night drinkers are drenched by the sprinklers, so Bodnar has proof of the infractions if he ever needs it.
