Alcohol-Free Pub Says Business Is Booming

Recovering alcoholic Sam Watson set up Dry Dock, an alcohol-free pub, in Dorset, UK, because he felt there was nowhere to socialize without drinking. Now he boasts that business is booming and profits are soaring, despite the fact that it was predicted that the establishment would flop soon after opening. Now it’s been a year and Watson has followed through with his promise to patrons that they would enjoy tasty drinks and socializing without the resulting hangover. Dry Dock has all the bells and whistles you would expect in a typical pub — a television, pool table, dart board, restored jukebox, board games, and pub quizzes every Wednesday. It also has non-alcoholic varieties of all the favorites: wine, beer, cider and cocktails, as well as sodas and hot drinks. Among the most popular are the non-alcoholic beers, including Guinness and Lucky Saint. Watson says “the sober revolution is upon us” due to the changing attitudes of drinkers seeking a healthier and hangover-free night out.
