Bird Confuses British Police Officers By Mimicking Sirens
Oxfordshire Police were left confused recently when a blackbird convincingly mimicked the sound of the sirens on their cars. Thames Valley Police said staff initially thought their vehicles had developed a mechanical problem after hearing the noise at a police substation in Bicester. A video filmed at the site and posted on social media shows the bird chirping in a tree, replicating the sound of a police siren. The tree is located close to the police fleet's workshop, which enabled the bird to sit patiently listening to the noise in order to recreate it. While common blackbirds have the ability to mimic sounds, they rarely use it. That’s why this particular blackbird is drawing so much attention. Meanwhile, police can now relax, knowing that their vehicles are not malfunctioning.

Nature Oddities
Termites provide a very useful service in the forest by eating decomposing leaves and other plant matter. Because soil from termite mounds is rich in nutrients, farmers often use it as fertilizer.

Apples are about 25% air, which is why they float, making them perfect for apple-bobbing contests.
