Woman Drops 154 Pounds and and Enters a Beauty Pageant

At 46, Dana Bradley attended her first beauty pageant when she tried out to represent Alabama in the Mrs. International contest, developed to promote today's married women, their accomplishments, and commitment to family and marriage. Four years ago, Bradley’s doctor told her she needed to make a change. She began to think about how hard it would be to leave her kids without a mom, especially since her own mother passed away when she was just 14. “I neglected my health, and I knew I had to do better and take care of myself because I want to see my kids grow up,” said Bradley. Since 2020, she has lost a whopping 154 pounds, and as a stay-at-home mom with a house to manage, it was no easy feat. She began doing workouts at 4:45 in the morning. She started with some light lifting for about 45 minutes to an hour. Then she would put her running gear on and run about 6 miles. Bradley also adjusted her diet, weeding out all the foods that weren’t healthy. She’s now working to become a certified personal trainer. When she heard about the Mrs. International contest, she decided to try out and won the right to represent the state of Alabama. She says she's entering the contest so she will have a platform to promote health and fitness. She will be attending the pageant in Kingsport, Tenn., July 26-27, 2024.
