Is Toyota’s New Electric Vehicle a Tesla Killer?

Toyota has said it’s close to being able to mass produce potentially revolutionary solid-state batteries that could offer double the range of existing electric cars. The electric vehicles could have a range of 745 miles, a charging time of 10 minutes, and could hit the market in 2027-2028. Switching to an electric vehicle is out of reach for many Americans, primarily because of the fear of being left stranded due to a lack of access to charging stations. The driving range of most electric vehicles now on the market is typically around 300 miles. Unfortunately, while solid-state batteries could be revolutionary, they also present challenges for manufacturers. The solid state batteries are hard to produce, but Toyota claims that it achieved a technological breakthrough that enables it to produce them at the same rate as existing batteries for electric vehicles.
