Karen and Eric Krieg, owners of the Canfora Bakery in Milwaukee, were the victims of a burglary. After they closed up for the evening, surveillance cameras captured a male suspect breaking into their bakery and making off with their cash drawer and some other equipment. The Kriegs called the police and also decided to turn to their community for help in identifying the unknown robber. The couple made the most of the disheartening and frustrating situation by planning a very creative scheme together, then sharing that plan on Facebook. They cooked up a special batch of sugar cookies — complete with red buttercream icing and sanding sugar — and a printed photo of the suspect's face smack dab in the center of each cookie. Dozens of the "edible wanted posters" were given away to customers at no charge. Just minutes after posting the cookies on social media, the tips started flooding in. A 45-year-old man was subsequently arrested, although police don't believe the cookies helped them catch the suspect. Criminal charges were referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office.
