Stunning photographs have captured two brothers who were born with two entirely different eye colors. Mehmet and Karem Selman each have a blue right eye and a brown left eye due to a condition known as heterochromia. Very few people have the condition, which is much more common in animals. More often than not, it’s the result of a genetic color abnormality inherited from their parents. If the condition develops later in life, it’s more likely to be the result of eye trauma, glaucoma, or certain types of cancer. Mehmet, 11, said he finally began to love himself despite the difference in his eye colors after the birth of his brother Kerem, 4, who has the identical condition. The boys’ parents say they feel lucky to have such special children.
