Conversion kits are becoming popular options for breathing new life into classic cars, and now they’re available in electric. That means if you have a classic car you would like to convert to an electric vehicle, you now have that option. Some auto manufacturers are so enthusiastic about the possibility of converting their classic cars to electric, they’re offering ways to upgrade them. Volkswagen, for example, unveiled its factory conversion program by converting a 1973 Super Beetle from gas-powered to electric. Prices vary widely, and few suppliers of EV conversions are willing to disclose those prices, since it varies by vehicle and the complexity of the project. California-based Zelectric and EV West charge as much as $100,000 for a conversion, so it’s not something that the average Joe will consider.
