Another New Product for the Delicate Millennials

In perfect timing for baby boomers looking for yet another thing to deride millennials about, a major British supermarket chain has announced a new packaging for their store brand raw chicken. Sainsbury’s UK said customers, particularly Millennials, are quite scared of touching raw meat, so they came up with the idea of designing packaging to allow the delicate young people to “rip and tip” the meat straight into the frying pan without touching it. Katherine Hall, Sainsbury’s product development manager for meat, fish, and poultry, said she thinks young customers don’t like handling raw meat due to a lack of education on food safety. She also reported that some focus group participants actually admitted they had gone so far as to spray raw chicken with antibacterial spray before cooking it.
