Stella Juva is the world's first ambulance designed to run entirely on solar energy while also powering all onboard medical equipment. The concept offers a direct alternative for regions where fuel or electricity shortages currently restrict access to healthcare. The sleek, futuristic-looking, white-and-yellow vehicle boasts solar panels on the roof that power its engine, as well as the onboard medical devices, including x-ray machines, defibrillators, cooled storage for vaccines, and ultrasound for pregnant women. The two-seater ambulance can reach a top speed of 75 mph and has a range of 400 miles on a charge. The vehicle is designed to bring healthcare to the patient, rather than transporting patients to hospitals. The team plans to travel to Kenya next month to put the car through its paces.
