Man Learns That a Porta-Potty is Not Where You Want to Spend 8 Hours

Emergency responders see plenty of unusual calls, but few compare to the bizarre rescue that unfolded in Kansas City, Missouri. What began as a portable restroom pickup check turned into a prolonged rescue after workers and a police officer discovered a man trapped inside the waste holding tank beneath the toilet seat. The incident quickly went viral, prompting equal parts disbelief, humor and concern. Responders found that the man had climbed into the waste holding tank to retrieve a can of Mountain Dew that he dropped. Once inside the waste tank, however, he was unable to get back out, remaining trapped for roughly 8 hours before being discovered. Firefighters from the Kansas City Fire Department were called to the scene, along with an ambulance, to safely remove him. Because the man was wedged beneath the toilet seat, rescuers couldn't simply pull him free. Instead, they had to cut apart the portable toilet to free him. After the man climbed out, firefighters rinsed him off using water from one of their trucks. Authorities have not publicly identified the man or said whether he suffered any injuries. Portable toilets aren't designed for someone to climb inside, which is why the opening is narrow. Combined with slippery surfaces and limited ventilation, escaping without assistance can become nearly impossible. What the man in this case learned the hard way is that you don't "Do the Dew" in a house of poo.
