Lay's Goes Minimalist in its New Brand Redesign

Lay’s potato chips will have a new look the next time you’re looking for a snack. The potato chip brand has unveiled its largest redesign ever, which includes a new logo and updated packaging. The changes have ignited mixed reactions online, with some customers celebrating that Lay’s has possibly bucked the trend of disappointing new logos. Customers compared the decision to the disastrous unveiling of Cracker Barrel’s new logo, and hoped for a better outcome for the chip brand. Lay’s will also use a new color palette, inspired by the ingredients seen in their recipes. The company said the fresh branding showcased a commitment to quality ingredients and unmatched flavor. Alexis Porter, Vice President of Marketing for PepsiCo said the redesigned bag lets the potato itself take center stage. She added that 42% of their customers didn’t know Lay’s were made from real, farm-grown potatoes. The company also announced that its chips would stop featuring artificial flavors and colors by the end of the year.
