This Looks Like An Ordinary Crash, But Residents Get An Earful

Police recently got a surprise when responding to a truck crash on Highway 69 near Custer County in Colorado. While the driver managed to escape the wreck without injury, the truck's load of sweet corn was spilled across the roadway. Loads of the corn were taken to the Wet Mountain Fire Protection District, where they were handed out free to local residents. The fire department rotated volunteer firefighters for nearly 17 hours to direct traffic through the emergency scene. The cause of the crash remains unclear, but residents were happy to receive the free corn. One grateful resident said truckers are always spilling their loads on Highway 69: “Last time it was hot dogs, and before that it was cheese.” Resident Susan Barnes wrote: “Donations of butter and dental floss are gladly being accepted.” Resident Vicki Williams said she made 14 quarts of corn chowder from the overturned truck, while resident Logan Smith said, “Please let me know when a peach truck rolls!” The Custer County Sheriff’s Office responded to Smith's comment by saying, “We are waiting for a steak truck!”
