Older A-Listers Snubbed in Emmy Awards Seating Plan

Preparations are well underway for the 2025 Emmy Awards, and seating placards have now revealed where the stars will be sitting. Photos of the seating arrangements show Sydney Sweeney sitting in front of Hollywood legends Harrison Ford (83), Jude Law (56), Christopher Meloni (64), Sarah Paulson (50) and Sam Rockwell (56). Sweeney (27) is set to present at the show, which is why she is close to the stage. Her row consists of nominees Jason Segel (45), Javier Bardem (56), and presenter Catherine Zeta-Jones (55). Another A-lister who is poised to get more camera time is 33-year-old Selena Gomez, whose show Only Murders in the Building is up for an Emmy. Meanwhile, her co-stars, Martin Short (75) and Steve Martin (80) will be sitting behind Gomez. Presenters Jennifer Coolidge, Jenna Ortega and nominee Quinta Brunson will also be front row, ahead of Michelle Williams, Seth Rogan, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Bella Ramsey, Jean Smart and Hanna Einbinder. Unlike many shows, where stars are seated at tables where they’re able to eat, drink and be merry, the Emmy Awards seats guests in rows of seats. Jorge Camara, Chairman of the Board of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, which created the Emmy Awards, said people have to remember that the awards ceremony is also a television show, which means seating is based on camera range. The bigger the name, the closer the guest is placed to the stage. This year, however, it seems like the older the guest, the farther back they’re seated. The 77th Primetime Emmy Awards will air on Sunday, Sept. 14, 2025 at 8 p.m. EDT. on CBS and Paramount+.
