"The Devil Wears Prada" Inspiration is Close to Choosing Her Replacement

Anna Wintour — editor-in-chief of Vogue magazine since 1988 and the inspiration for the 2006 film The Devil Wears Prada — may be weeks away from handing over the helm of the operation to her replacement. Chloe Malle (above, right) — daughter of actress Candice Bergen and director Louis Malle — seems poised to take over the position as the new head of editorial content for U.S. Vogue. The 39-year-old is currently an editor at Vogue, most recently known for interviewing Lauren Sanchez ahead of her wedding to Jeff Bezos in June. The final rounds of interviews have narrowed down the selection to just a few candidates, with Malle being at the top of the list. The new editor is set to begin before the start of New York Fashion Week, which will be running from September 11 through September 16. Wintour is stepping down after leading the publication for 37 years. The 75-year-old will remain as Condé Nast’s global chief content officer and Vogue’s global editorial director.
