Social media users were left stunned by an article from the 1920s that highlighted the shockingly progressive thoughts of the men of that era. The article, originally posted in the Times Herald, asked New Yorkers to share their thoughts on whether or not a wife should have to wake up to make breakfast for her husband if he has to leave for work really early. The article posted comments made by both men and women on the subject, and while the men were praised for their views, the women’s answers painted a different picture. Social media users were shocked by the comments, pointing out that it seemed that the women had to put on an act for the paper because of the societal consequences of deviating from it.
