Tributes are pouring in for a Taunton, Mass., woman who held the world record for longest-serving employee of KFC. Pauline Richards began working at the fast food chain in 1978, when she was just 27, and became a local celebrity for her loyal service and wry sense of humor. She started at the restaurant as a cleaner to support a friend who had just been hired there, going on to be a cashier and eventually a manager. Since she began working at KFC, she served over 6 million drumsticks and had no plans on retiring anytime soon. “It all depends on what my body says,” she shared in a January interview. “I have been lucky, I haven’t had much illness in my life.” Locals shared fond memories of Pauline and her great sense of humor, but say she laid down the law when it came to misbehaving teens. Pauline’s daughter and grandson followed in her footsteps, both working at the same KFC branch in the past. After racking up 47 years with KFC, Pauline succumbed to cancer at the age of 74.
