The Twins from “The Shining” 45 Years After the Iconic Horror Movie

Arguably, one of the most iconic images in film history is the moment the Grady twins appear in the hallway to haunt little Danny Torrance in The Shining. Even though the twins, played by Lisa and Louise Burns, were only in the film for one scene, their presence has become synonymous with the groundbreaking horror movie and they are still referenced regularly in pop culture. Nearly 45 years after the film was released, the Grady twins have managed to put their Hollywood days behind them. Lisa decided to become an attorney, while Louise is a published scientist. When asked about their experience of the set of The Shining, they said they loved it. “Everyday felt like we’d been invited to a very exclusive party and we were the youngest, luckiest people to be there,” said Lisa. Louise added, “Stanley [Kubrick] wanted us on set every single day, so between scenes we would play with Danny [Lloyd] and Jack [Nicholson].” The twins revealed that Nicholson was a stark contrast from his character Jack Torrance. He dropped the creepy persona once cameras stopped rolling and even acted as a father figure to the girls at the time. Even though they were 11 years old when they acted in the film, the experience has stayed with them through adulthood. The women, now 56, have remained active in the horror-fan community, attending conventions and frequently posting on their social media accounts about the genre.
