The Coffee Shop Debate That's Taking the Internet By Storm

If you’ve ever been to a Starbucks, it’s likely you were left wondering if you were in a coffee shop or an office. That’s because Starbucks and other coffee shops that offer free Wi-Fi have become makeshift offices for a variety of business people. Recently, an unidentified woman took to social media to post her complaints and find out if other people thought she was being unreasonable. In her post titled “Fed up with drinking coffee in other people’s offices,” the woman shared that she had recently popped in for a coffee at a local coffee shop and was surrounded by four separate people working with laptops, headphones, and piles of paperwork. She added that some of the people around her were talking loudly to clients and arranging chairs for a meeting, noting that they had no food or beverages in sight. While the woman said she has no problem with people working in coffee shops, she thinks they’ve gone too far. She said she wonders if there might even be a confidential issue involved, nothing that one of the people working near her had a list containing other people’s personal information, in clear view of other customers. “Does anyone else feel fed up with this, or am I just being unreasonable?” the woman asked. While many commenters agreed with the woman, others said the situation is more complex, noting that a lot of coffee shops rely on those customers to remain in business. One commenter even suggested that the woman was wrong to expect a library-like atmosphere at a coffee shop. In the end, the only recommendation that made sense was, “Get your coffee to go."
