10-Year-Old California Girl Set to Graduate From College

Alisa Perales, a 10-year-old girl from San Bernardino, Calif., will soon become the youngest graduate of Crafton Hills College in Yucaipa. She started her college education at just 8 years old, and is now approaching her 11th birthday. She will graduate with two degrees — one in mathematics and the other in science. As the youngest graduate from Crafton Hills, Alisa’s GPA is close to 4.0, something she attributes to being homeschooled by her father Rafael. Thanks to an inheritance that allowed him to stay home with his daughter, Rafael worked with Alisa from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. six days a week. Now, instead of being in the fifth grade, she’s preparing to graduate from college. Alisa doesn’t intend to rest on her laurels. She plans to continue her education in computer science and hopes to be accepted to Stanford University.
