You know what they say: If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. The same can be said for ordering Costco’s Kirkland Products from Amazon. While you will find legitimate Kirkland products from Costco on Amazon, they aren’t coming directly from Costco. The whole point of Costco is to save money, but if you buy Kirkland products on Amazon, there’s a good chance you’ll be negating those savings. In fact, there can be anywhere from a 12% to 75% markup on them. Take, for example, Kirkland Unsalted Extra Fancy Nuts — on Amazon they sell for $24.99, but at Costco the very same product sells for $18.52. That’s a markup of almost 26%. A box of 222 Kirkland diapers at Costco runs $24.99, which breaks down to 20¢ per diaper. Meanwhile, on Amazon the same box of Kirkland diapers runs $70 — for only 198 of them — which turns out to be 35¢ per diaper…….a 74% markup. So, as you can see, after making a few purchases on Amazon, that $65 Costco membership fee may look pretty good.
