Instacart Delivery Driver Notices Something Strange About Her Customer and Ends Up Saving His Life

Jessica Higgs was working for Instacart when she took an order from a woman who wanted groceries delivered to her father. She took the order in hopes of making some extra money — not expecting to save the man’s life along the way. Higgs said something seemed immediately off about the man when she went to drop off the groceries, saying he looked very sick. Despite Instacart’s policy of not allowing delivery people to go inside a customer’s home, Higgs said she felt compelled to take the groceries inside. It was once inside that the 27-year-old decided to reach out to the man’s daughter, explaining that if she marked the order complete, she wouldn’t be able to contact her. She explained to the woman that she noticed a propane tank inside the house and that she, herself, began to feel a little dizzy while there. Higgs suggested that there might be a leak in the tank. The woman said she would have her son come by and check it out. She also changed Higgs’ tip from $40 to $100. The next day, Higgs noticed that the woman had left a message for her, explaining that there was indeed a leak in the propane tank. “You definitely saved my dad and my younger son’s life!,” she wrote. Higgs encouraged people, “If you see something, say something.”
