Travelers who say they’ve been victimized are vowing to never fly Southwest again after the airline confirmed that beginning May 28, fliers will have to pay for their checked bags, thus ending the company’s popular “two bags fly free” policy. Several travelers revealed that the free bags policy was the reason they flew Southwest and that its removal gives them no reason to keep flying the airline. Users on social media pointed out that Southwest’s fleet is old and outdated, and now the perks of choosing the airline are gone. Southwest says it will give it’s A-List members and other select customers the privilege of checking one bag for free. As one flyer explained, “One reason we would fly Southwest having a family of six is to have a few bags fly free. It isn’t the most convenient airline because flying more than two states away there is almost never a direct flight.” Southwest has yet to address the complaints, but even with the changes, Southwest Airlines is no different than other airlines that charge baggage fees.
