Man is Reunited With Missing Dog After 8 Years

An Arizona man says his story is a good example of why you should never give up hope. Paul Guilbeault’s dog Damian had been missing since 2017, but a phone call changed both of their lives. When the call came in from an unlisted number, Paul said he thought it was a scammer. It turned out to be someone from the American Kennel Club notifying him that they had found his lost dog in Oklahoma. Paul explained that in 2017 he and his family were moving from Massachusetts to Arizona, and during the cross-country trip they made a pitstop in Oklahoma. Paul was walking Damian outside when the dog escaped his leash and ran away. He was so fast that Paul couldn’t catch him. The family searched everywhere for their beloved pooch, even putting up missing fliers. Paul said he never gave up hope that one day he would be reunited with Damian. Donna Bently happened to be driving along when she almost hit Damian with her car. She took the dog home, and she and her brother Rick took Damian to the vet to be scanned for a microchip. Paul’s information came up. Paul was actually driving out to Los Angeles with supplies for survivors of the wildfires when he got the call. That’s when he changed course and drove 14 hours to Oklahoma City to reunite with Damian. Paul and his family are now back home in Arizona, making up for lost time with Damian.
