If you’re a fan of the NBC sitcom My Name is Earl, you’re likely familiar with Ehtan Suplee, who played the role of Randy Hickey, Earl's dim-witted and lazy younger brother. Known for starring in films like Remember the Titans, American History X, and The Wolf of Wall Street, Suplee weighed more than 500 pounds at the age of 24. Not long after appearing in My Name is Earl, he began losing weight, and by the time he appeared on the red carpet to promote the film Unstoppable in 2010, he had dropped more than 200 pounds. The 48-year-old has abandoned traditional diets, opting for a fitness regimen centered around strength training and a balanced diet that focuses on whole foods. He has been keeping fans updated on his progress by posting photos on Instagram, and earlier this week showed off his abs. “I’m at my absolute pinnacle,” said Suplee. Last year, he achieved another fitness milestone by reaching 9% body fat. He credits his abs to weeks of carefully adjusting his carb and sodium intake with the help of his trainer, Jared Feather. He also highlights the importance of knowledge and education in achieving and maintaining weight loss. The only downside to Suplee’s weight loss journey has been his inability to book acting jobs. He admits that casting directors don’t recognize him now, after coming to rely on him for acting jobs where his excess weight was a necessity.
