Dunkin’ is Experiencing a Rare Donut Shortage Across Multiple States

In a rare turn of events, several Dunkin’ locations are experiencing donut shortages. Cities in Nebraska, New Mexico, and other states have been impacted, and the company says a manufacturing error is to blame. Locations across Albuquerque, New Mexico, got hit the hardest, with employees pointing to supply chain issues and delivery trucks with missing stock. Employees could only hope for the best, as Dunkin’ didn’t confirm when the donuts would be replenished. The shortage is a nationwide issue, says the manager of an Omaha, Nebraska, location, though states like Missouri and Massachusetts reported no issue with stock. Inspire Brands, the private equity firm that owns Dunkin’, pointed to a single supplier as the culprit behind Nebraska’s shortage, with around 4% of Dunkin’ locations in the U.S. affected. Bryce Bares, owner of several Dunkin’ chains in Nebraska, blamed below-standard donuts for the shortage. After receiving a recent order, he decided not to serve them to customers. Apparently, subpar donuts were delivered to other locations as well. Bares says the supplier has corrected the issue and that the donuts consumers love will be back in stock soon.
