Snakes are considered some of the most dangerous animals found on our planet. Encountering a snake could quickly turn into a serious situation, sometimes even fatal. There is, however, one country on this planet that has no snakes. Snakes are found almost everywhere in the world, except the country of New Zealand. Located near the South Pole, New Zealand doesn’t lack reptiles, but snakes are not among them. That’s because it’s illegal in to bring a snake into the country, as a pet or for any other reason. Geographically separated from the rest of the world, the nearest significant landmass in New Zealand is over 600 miles of ocean, and there is no snake species capable of traveling that far across water. The New Zealand government is working hard to keep the country snake-free, so if a snake happens to make it into the country via shipping containers or other means, they are immediately tracked down and captured. Those who are found attempting to smuggle snakes into the country face prison if convicted. The reason New Zealand is so against snakes in their country is because they would annihilate most of the country's endangered native animals.
