Jay Leno's “Accidental Fall” Spurs Conspiracy Theories on Social Media

Jay Leno didn’t let a serious fall down a 60-foot hill deter him from indulging in a chicken Parmesan dinner at The Boulevard in Greensburg, Penn. Despite sustaining a wrist injury and a black eye as the result of the tumble, the comedian didn’t seek immediate medical attention. After dinner, the 74-year-old picked up an eye patch at a nearby CVS, before going on to perform one of his comedy shows just 2 hours later. Eventually, he did seek medical attention, coming away with the diagnosis of a broken wrist, bruises and contusions. The accident sparked a number of wild conspiracy theories, but some of them do give you pause. One user wrote: “So Jay Leno is staying at a Hampton Inn while being worth millions of dollars, with an eye patch, bruised up face, a broken wrist and a missing fingernail, and he wants us to believe he fell down a hill????” A handful of users agreed and pointed out that it was odd for an A-lister to be staying at a budget-conscious Hampton Inn. One user questioned Leno’s story, pointing out there were “holes in this story” and insisting Leno would have had abrasions if he slid down a hill. Yet others had their own explanation: “A motorcycle wreck, a gasoline fire in his face, and now this story? Sounds like to me Jay Leno has some gambling debts he hasn’t paid off.” Of course, there’s no evidence to suggest Leno is in any debt, gambling or otherwise, regardless of the sinister theories. Still, the story has left most people scratching their heads.
