Would You Put a Camera in Your Toilet?

Scientists are finally lifting the lid on our bowel movements with the launch of a new camera for the toilet. Researchers from Throne Science have developed a bizarre device that clips onto the side of the toilet bowl and uses artificial intelligence to analyze your stools. Researchers explained that monitoring bowel movements can provide valuable insights into digestive health and nutrient absorption, as well as serving as an early warning sign for conditions like gastrointestinal bleeding. They say it’s a cost-effective, non-invasive way to keep tabs on your overall health. The device — simply called “Throne” — clips onto the side of the toilet bowl and offers a “hands-off” experience. Throne uses a downward facing camera that securely captures video during each bathroom visit. An analysis of each stool will be sent to the user via smartphone app, where they will be able to see the results of everything from hydration to regularity. The device comes with a hefty price tag — Throne will retail for an eye-watering $499 when it goes on sale near the end of the year.
