Flight Attendant Reveals How Crew Members Can Be Fined $10,000 If Passengers Fail to Follow the Rules

A flight attendant named Keana, who works for American Airlines, has come forward to reveal that flight crews can face astronomical fines if they fail to encourage passengers to follow the rules. Some of their requests include fastening seat belts, putting bags underneath seats, placing seats in the upright position, and securing trays. Other things crew members will get called out on include children over the age of 2 sitting on their parent’s lap and animals blocking the aisles. While some passengers might consider the crew's requests to be annoying, Keana says the rules are there for safety reasons and are enforced by the FAA. She gives passengers good advice: “It’s free to be nice, but it costs to get off the no-fly list…..choose wisely.” If Keana doesn’t issue instructions, or if she does issue instructions but passengers fail to comply, she can be fined as much as $10,000…..and that’s “per infraction.” As for unruly passengers, she gives them an option: “I don’t care that the last flight attendant didn’t ask you to follow the rules. They didn’t care about the fine. I care about the fine. So either CashApp me or comply.” She went on to explain that FAA agents don’t have to announce themselves if they’re onboard a flight, so they can catch the crew by surprise.
