In the wake of Hurricane Beryl, which left around 1.8 million people without power, fast-food chain Whataburger’s app has become the new outage map for many. Whataburger is a San Antonio-based fast-food chain with 769 restaurants scattered across the Lone Star state. On the Whataburger app, users can see a map of the chain’s locations, with an orange logo indicating the stores that are open and a gray logo for those that are closed. When asked what they thought of their location map being used for electric outage coverage, Whataburger responded, “Well, there’s a use for our app we didn’t think of! Hope everyone is okay.”
