Starbucks Sparks Controversy After Releasing New Cold Cups

Starbucks has sparked controversy with the launch of its new cold cup, which customers have compared to UFOs, as the coffee giant introduces the new addition at various locations. Coffee addicts are threatening to switch to competitors after seeing the new design. Starbucks said it was debuting the new compostable cold cups due to local mandates. The new compostable cups and lids are opaque and made from double-walled, fiber-based paper board with a bioplastic liner, and the lids are made from compostable molded fiber. The cups come with paper straws. While the change may be beneficial to the environment, it left some customers upset — so upset, in fact, that they said they were going to Dunkin’ Donuts.
