A British mechanic has secured a Guinness World Record by taking his motorized wheelbarrow up to a speed of 52.58mph. Dylan Phillips built his super-speedy garden tool for fun before he realized there was a world record category for wheelbarrow speed. He said taking the wheelbarrow up to high speeds is both uncomfortable and terrifying. “Slowing down is the issue — it’s only got breaks in the front,” he said. Dylan went on to explain that it leaves him aching because the wheelbarrow has no suspension and just rattles his body to pieces. The wheelbarrow was constructed using only parts that were already in Dylan’s shop, with the engine coming from a Honda scooter that had stopped running. Although the platform looks like a Segway, Dylan said it’s made from scratch as well.
