Anthony Hopkins could have ended up with Martha Stewart had he not been such a horrifyingly good actor. In a 2022 interview, Stewart revealed that she and Hopkins used to date in the late 1990s, but that all came to a halt when she saw the film The Silence of the Lambs. She confessed that the flick caused her to see the British actor in an entirely different light. “I couldn’t stop thinking of him as Hannibal Lecter,” said Stewart. Hopkins’ work in the film went down in history as one of the most frightening film performances of all times, winning the actor an Oscar for Best Actor, but losing him a romantic relationship with Stewart. Stewart went on to explain that she lives in a “big, scary house in Maine that’s way off by itself on 100 acres in a forest.” Stewart said that she couldn't even imagine taking Hopkins there. Stewart was married to Andrew Stewart from 1961 to 1990 and they have one daughter together. At the time of the interview, Hopkins had been married and divorced twice. In 2003, he married antiques dealer Stella Arroyave. Apparently, she has no problem with her husband's affinity for Chianti.
